Sunflowers and other plants...

Well this blog is mainly to see the gradual growth of both our palm trees, our sunflowers and also the garden change since we moved in on Friday September 7th 2007!

Here are some photographs of flowers (wild mostly) and our Sunflowers etc in our garden and the garden transformation so far since last september.yello flower (macro) BNW SC

Well yes these are all weeds in fact but still i was practising taking photos using the 'macro' function on my new camera and what is best but natural, wild flowers growing!
Next doors cat, Angel, seems to like munching on our grass anyways!

Here are some updated photos of our sunflowers,

The palm trees (as other items in the garden) are kept watered and seem to be doing fine i.e. not dead basically which is an achievement for us so here is a macro detailed picture of the palm tree leaves....
Palm tree leaf macro

If you take a look at this picture you can see EJ watering the plants for me, the slabs are the old ones but since this photo was taken on Wednesday the 21st May, we have since laid really nice 'Rosemont' slabs, I will take a photo of these later so you can see the difference...watering the palms - 21st may 08

you can see part of the colouring on this picture, where the spade is laid down on the ground.lavender x3 This was taken near to the back window so the stones have mostly disappearred of what you can see to your right. Phil is now in the process of getting the patio grouted so there are no gaps etc.

Patio is coming along nicely...

...bar the fact it has rained loads today!

The patio is, I would say, about 90% finished!

this link to the picture of the
patio preperation on 5th June shows only a third finished, Phil working the weeds and EJ helping!

We have mowed the garden twice since buying the new lawn mower (Phil first then Dec and I took turns on Sunday - gone - to give it a good trim), the shed has now been painted as Phil started on the same Sunday (fathers day) and on Monday afternoon this week, when the sun came out late afternoon, I got the brush out and finished the painting of the shed, on the side nearer the fence, so thats that done for the year.

the biggest palm

I took this photo to show you how big the largest palm has grown since we bought it at the beginning of the year. The smaller palm is behind the larger one and also growing as rapidly.

The sunflowers are behind these and look a bit caterpillar eaten but other than that they look like they are about to flower, they had a good watering last night though.

If there isnt any natural rain water to water them with then we get the hose pipe out on them.

Patio placement on the go ahead...

Due to mum and dad having EJ and Dec over night so that Phil and I could go out and have a meal for my birthday, Mum and dad brought them home on the Sunday and Dad helped phil with the patio...
phil gardening ej spectating - 21-05-08 It is coming on nicely now, and 2 thirds of the patio are done, with phil having to work weekends at the minute it may take some time but we will get it finished, once thats done its the top right end of the garden by the shed.

Purple pansies n yellow in fence basket - 30th May - selective colouring

I think this looks ace with the purple colouring, lets see how many/if, I get any awards for it!

EJ getting her ball whilst inspecting garden - 30th may

EJ here, retrieving her golden ball behind the palm trees and sunflowers! Ej loves our garden and likes being outside when I am gardening or doing anything in the garden, this day she was playing with her football and playing mud splasher by the garden shed. She got very very mucky yet she had so much fun doing it that I let her carry on.
